Shot Down By My Better Half.

If you have ever read this blog, you might get a laugh at my wife's skillful skewering of the crazy language I have used over the years. Please read Riding the Wavelet over on her blog littledragonfruit.com.

That was pretty good . . . fortunately I *can* understand this site :)

It's always funny to watch my wife's eyes glaze over when I try to explain this stuff to her as well.

That is indeed funny and the text reflects intelligence. It really made me to think of communication. But, you know, as my native language is not English, I had to think carefully what your wife is really saying! Understood almost every word, but still was not immediately sure that I got the inner message. Had it read it two to three times to get some confidence.

Is "lossless" the same as "found"? Good question, especially so as it made me to realize once again that words cannot be translated directly from one language to another.

I didn't get her jokes and English is my first language!

Your Cineform stuff, on the other hand, makes perfect sense to me. Even the tricky stuff like the S/N comparison with SR tape.

Every field has it's jargon. Just because one does not understand the jargon does not make it "giberish" as one poster stated. Giberish is non-sense. Jargon is shorthand for concepts that might otherwise be difficult to encapsulate into a reasonable sentence.
